Kim Baldwin adeptly depicts the fictional world with sharpness to rival the real world, writing realistic action, emotion, and descriptions in every scene.”             Midwest Book Review              High Impact, my eleventh novel, is out!   Click the links below to order or download your copy  now. You can read the prologue and Chapter One  by clicking here.  The book is another Alaskan  adventure-romance, which includes a supporting  cast of familiar faces from both Breaking the Ice and  Whitewater Rendezvous.                                       I’m also thrilled to report that I’ll be appearing on the Alternative Romance Goes Mainstream panel at the Romance Writers of America’s 32nd Annual Conference at the Anaheim Marriott from July 25 – July 28. Proposed and moderated by Sarah Franz, PhD, this first ‘full spectrum LGBTQ romance panel (a session on m/m romance was presented in 2008) will bring  together a number of publishing professionals representing a wide range of LGBTQ romance interests, including NYT best- selling author Suzanne Brockman. Other panelists include author/publisher Radclyffe from Bold Strokes Books, Lauren Dane, author w/ Berkley Heat, K.A. Mitchell, m/m romance author with Samhain, and Heather Osborn, Samhain's Executive Editor.      This lively panel of best-selling, award-winning authors, editors, and publishers from both print and digital houses will discuss how and why they write and publish books that include gay, lesbian, and bisexual main characters. They will offer craft tips unique to writing about these relationships, explaining why they write in or publish this subgenre, how is it different from writing heterosexual couples, and how, when, and why they incorporate characters with alternate sexualities into their  mainstream romance series. They will also discuss frankly what the market for these books is, where writers should send their submissions, what sales numbers are like, who the audience is, and how these are books received by readers and reviewers. The panelists will respond to the moderator’s guided questions and in the last fifteen minutes, will open the floor for audience questions. In other news, got a nice couple mentions in The Advocate. Dying to Live made their list of Best Overlooked Books of 2011. And the magazine’s November issue includes a picture of me in my Porsche; it’s among the photos selected for this year’s A Day in Gay America feature. Check here for the latest info. The snow is flying in Michigan after a mild start to winter, and while I’m stuck inside I’m thinking about possibilities for my next solo. Another adventure tale, most likely. I think long and hard these days about what to write about next, because sometimes my choices seem to come back to haunt me.  I blogged about why recently on the BSB author blog. My next solo will be the first one produced primarily in a new writing space: my converted porch.  It’s got a perfect view, comfy seating, and no TV to tempt me away from my laptop if inspiration is playing hooky. If you’d like to see pictures of the transformation, go here. Thanks for stopping by.
